Synthetic Grass and Rubber

Synthetic Grass Care and Maintenance

After installing synthetic grass/artificial grass, minimal maintenance is required to keep it looking as good as the day it was laid. This means no more watering, weeding or mowing, allowing you to keep your sporting area, home or playground areas looking their very best year round.

We Recommend

  • Regular grooming of the area with a broom or blower to deter any build-up of dust, dirt or grime.  This helps prevent the growth of moss, mould and mildew in the sand infill.
  • If moss, mould or mildew form, contact us and we can arrange to come out and clean your surface.
  • A quarterly check of the sand infill level in high wear areas. Extra sand can be swept in and will help to keep the integrity of the grass pile.
  • Any food or drink spilt on the grass is cleaned up quickly with a mixture of warm water and household grade detergent.
  • You don't use mechanical cleaning machines or petrochemical cleaning agents.
  • You don't drive heavy machinery across the grass.
  • You don't use lawn mowing equipment (including whipper snippers) near the synthetic grass, particularly any edges.

Tennis Court Repairs & Cleaning

Regular maintenance will keep your court looking great and increase its lifespan at the same time.  Our team will happily carry out any repair work required such as replacing worn spots and repairing damage caused by tree roots.

We can bring an old court back to life with a rejuvenating court clean to remove dirt, mould or mildew that has built up over time. Always conscious of the environment, our specialised equipment removes the need for the use of chemicals.

Synthetic Grass & Rubber Surfaces Australia Pty Ltd recommend 2 Professional Services per year.

  • One in Spring/Summer for a nice deep clean of the synthetic grass surface to remove any dirt, and to ensure that infill is loose, clean and evenly distributed.
  • Second in Autumn/Winter to protect the surface against the winter season challenges when algae, moss can occur and that can make the surface area slippery.

Reflective Heat on Synthetic Grass

Causes, Risks, and Solutions

Synthetic grass is an excellent choice for creating a lush, green space without the hassle of constant watering, mowing, or fertilizing. However, one factor that often surprises homeowners and property managers is reflective heat. This phenomenon can lead to excessive temperatures on your turf and, in some cases, even cause damage. Understanding what reflective heat is and how to prevent it will help you protect your investment and keep your lawn looking perfect year-round.

What Is Reflective Heat?

Reflective heat occurs when sunlight bounces off surfaces such as windows, glass pool fences, metal panels, or even light-colored walls and concentrates onto your synthetic grass. Unlike natural grass, which can recover from heat stress, artificial turf is made from plastic polymers that can soften or melt under extreme temperatures.

Why Is It a Problem?

  • Surface Damage: Prolonged exposure to concentrated sunlight can cause turf fibers to warp or melt, leaving shiny patches or uneven textures.
  • Safety Concerns: High temperatures on the turf surface can make it uncomfortable—or even unsafe—for children and pets to play.
  • Costly Repairs: Damaged turf often requires replacement, which can be expensive and time-consuming.

Common Sources of Reflective Heat

  • Glass windows and doors
  • Glass pool fencing
  • Highly reflective metal surfaces
  • Light-colored walls or paving

How to Prevent Reflective Heat Damage

  1. Install Window Films: Anti-reflective or tinted films reduce glare and heat reflection from glass surfaces.
  2. Use Shade Solutions: Pergolas, shade sails, or strategically placed plants can block direct sunlight.
  3. Choose Heat-Resistant Turf: Some synthetic grass products are designed to withstand higher temperatures.
  4. Positioning Matters: When planning your turf installation, consider the angle of sunlight and reflective surfaces.

Reflective heat is a manageable issue when addressed early. By taking preventive measures, you can enjoy the beauty and convenience of synthetic grass without worrying about heat damage. If you’re unsure about the best solution for your space, our team can help with expert advice and installation tips.

Multipurpose Synthetic Grass Repairs & Cleaning

Synthetic Grass in a School environment can be used for a wide range activities, from sports to play. However if the surface areas are not maintained the impact of children in flat soled footwear and in high traffic areas can result in synthetic grass pile quickly flattening and the surface area  can also become slippery.

We can bring an old multi purpose court or play area back to life with a rejuvenating court clean to remove dirt, mould or mildew that has built up over time. Always conscious of the environment, our specialised equipment removes the need for the use of chemicals.

Synthetic Grass & Rubber Surfaces Australia Pty Ltd recommend 3-4 times per year, a Deep Clean Service, pending the usage of the areas and budget.
